Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Strategy – I Belong
We want to attract people from all walks and stages of life, give them the tools they need to be successful in their roles and create an inclusive environment they feel like they belong. This will allow us to make the most of different ideas and innovations our people generate, create an environment of continuous improvement and continue to operate safely.
Sharing our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategy in both te reo Māori and English honours our commitment to the language, culture and history of Aotearoa.
Our strategy sets out our 3 ambitions
These ambitions are our guiding beacons towards how we create a better shared future for our people everywhere, champion a culture of inclusion and belonging and empower access to equal opportunity in our workplace and community.
Why it's important
We want to make sure we are prepared for what the future brings, including the exciting new talent entering the workforce. Research shows organisations with high levels of diversity have a higher than average market share and those in the top quartile outperform their industry. We want to be truly reflective of our customers and Aotearoa as a whole, so are committed to this as a diversity goal. To achieve the benefits of diversity, equity and inclusion we want to create an environment where people can be themselves and thrive at work as well as at home.
We're in this together
Our commitment to diversity has helped create a vibrant working environment where everyone feels welcome. Here you'll work alongside colleagues with diverse perspectives, experiences, cultures, genders and age no matter which area of our business you work in.
By cultivating an engaged and inclusive culture, we ensure every individual feels valued and empowered, enabling us to better serve our customers and connect New Zealanders to each other and New Zealand to the world.
What we want to achieve
Our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategy holds us accountable by setting out how we will create a truly inclusive workplace for our people and how we will become a champion of diversity, equity and inclusion so our people feel they belong.
We have been on this journey for a while now and are proud of how far we have come. There is still more we want to achieve, and by focusing on our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategy and plan we will continue to drive a positive, inclusive culture for everyone.
